I am still Ahead of the Curve.

And you are, probably, too.

Yeah, this is another article on how it is not too late to start creating your own thing.

I met my friends after a few months today, we talked about a range of subjects, ranging from football to studies, to music, to youtube. I felt a certain disconnect when they talked about the last two things though. What I want to focus on is the latter, though.

They do not watch Colin and Samir or Think Media, or any creator-driven channel. I was astounded, I felt that surely everyone knows these things that I listen to? And one of them was a creator on Instagram himself. I know, Oh, the irony! Yes, this might be because I am based in India, but don’t you dare to tell me that it isn’t a reason for me to work even harder. Now that it is possible, I feel like I will finally start working seriously.

Now, before you decide to call me a sell-out, let me tell you that I am not talking about writing. I write because I can’t not, besides, I do not earn from it, I do not put my stories behind a paywall. I am talking about other content creation platforms, like youtube, among others.

What I really want to convey through this article is that most people are not consciously thinking of being a content creator, even if they’d ‘love to experience that’. That leaves an opportunity yelling out loud to whoever wants to take it.

I thought that I was unfortunate to be born in this generation and not just five or ten years younger until I realised that this is the golden period of content creation. To people who think that it is unreasonable of me to think this way, well first, you should definitely be a bit more on the educational side of the internet. Second, think of it this way, a few decades ago and until recently, more than half of people at least tried to get into college or jobs related to STEM and for good reason too, they paid really well, and they are, more times than not, interesting. Now, that is replaced by the humongous tribes of people coming into content creation every day, for monetary or otherwise benefits. While this industry might not be able to accommodate everyone, just like not everyone was an engineer or a doctor, if you are good, you will, most probably, get a fair chance.

I can hear the cries of ‘hypocrisy’ already. I do not have a Youtube channel, and nor am I a content creator, how am I eligible to say these things? Well, I am not in a condition to start one. For starters, I do not have a phone, I write these articles on a nine-year-old laptop whose webcam is, well, not ideal. Above all else, though, I do not have privacy. I do not have my own room ,nor my own corner. I just sit awkwardly in order to not completely showcase the contents of the laptop, and now, even the hinges on this thing have broken. Needless to say, my back is not very thankful. No, I am not a ten year old, I am seventeen and will be joining university next fall. That will probably be the start of something.

Anyway, let me know your thoughts on the topics I discussed here, and hey! I have a newsletter now! It will be a monthly email, a kind of monologue about literature, writing, philosophy and humanities, linking the articles I found most useful. It will be delivered on the 19th of every month. Do Subscribe if you are interested.

That’s it then!
