Children's books don't get as much appreciation they deserve. My favourite Dutch children's author/artist put it nicely. When he was an established children's writer, people would ask him when he would move 'up' to adult literature. He was surprised that people perceive children's literature as a lesser art. It's somehow not serious enough to make a living of.
